Remodelers Showcase Homeowners Share Their Thoughts

With their family grown and gone, Rich and Cindy Steele considered a townhome or condominium lifestyle. But they loved their unique family home, their yard overlooking 2000-acre Lebanon Park, their neighborhood and its proximity to the entire metropolitan area.

So they took another look at what they had. Realizing they were living on just one side of their main level, they dreamed of using the entire space. And then they met James Madsen, owner of James Barton Design-Build.

They liked the way James listened.

"I kept saying 'Budget ... Budget ... Budget!' And James heard that," said Rich. "Other remodelers wanted to focus on just one area of the house, but James listened and showed us how we could accomplish it all within our budget."

"Tamra was phenomenal," according to Cindy. "We wanted a contemporary look ... but we had no idea how to get it. We counted on Tamra to pull it all together. She took the time to understand who we are, what we wanted and what would work best for us. And then she made it happen!"

"The team works wonderfully together," Cindy continued. "They added things we hadn't thought of ... like the metro fireplace that is just so much fun. The space is such a wonderful place to live in now."

People who care

It's easy to see how much the JBDB team cares, according to Rich and Cindy, who say, "James is a perfectionist ... very detail-oriented. When they say they're going to do something, they do it. They always let us know what to expect ... and when. And they were always right on schedule."

The benefits to being a Showcase home

"You get certain enhancements and upgrades by agreeing to participate in the Remodelers Showcase," said Rich. "Those upgrades and enhancements helped James accomplish everything we wanted to do ... while staying within our budget."

Cindy has another reason for participating in the Showcase.

"We want our neighbors to see the job James Barton Design-Build has done for us. We want them to know they can achieve an update in their homes that feels like they bought a new house, while maintaining all the wonderful things they love about their home and their neighborhood," she said.

The Steeles are so impressed with JBDB's work, they are already talking to them about redoing their upper level and thinking about updating the exterior.
