James Barton Design-Build is headquartered in Apple Valley, Minnesota. We've been part of the South Metro home remodeling, renovation and construction landscape for more than 13 years. We work here. Most of our employees live here, and many of the craftsmen, suppliers and contractors that we partner with are from the area. We're also actively involved within many south-of-the-river communities and organizations. So it's no surprise that we understand the area, the people and their homes.
We also know the cities of Dakota and Scott counties and work closely with various city departments and personnel to ensure all of our projects are completed to plan and code. From the start of your project to completion, you can rest assured that we've planned for and complied with every permit, ordinance, code, regulation and inspection required by local government.
Because of our focus on remodeling, renovating and building homes within the South Metro, many of our completed projects can be found in the area. We've done a little bit of everything, including:
Bathroom and kitchen remodels, house additions, whole-house remodels and renovations, lower levels and media rooms, wine cellars and bonus rooms, exterior renovations (siding, roofing, window and door replacement), decks and porches, outdoor rooms and living spaces, garage construction, hail and storm damage repairs and much more.
Visit any one of our seven South Metro community pages for information on some of the more recent projects competed within each city.
Apple Valley | Burnsville | Farmington | Lakeville | Prior Lake | Rosemount | Savage | Shakopee
Apple Valley's first town meeting was held on May 11, 1858 in a home near the area that is now Westview Elementary School.
The name "Burnsville" is attributed to an early Irish settler and land owner, William Byrne. His surname was recorded as "Burns" and was never corrected.
Farmington is home to three properties listed on the Register of Historic Places for Dakota County: the Daniel F. Akin House, the Church of the Advent and the Exchange Bank Building.
On the south metro fringe, Lakeville is one of the fastest growing cities in the Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan area.
Prior Lake features many recreational amenities including more than 54 parks, over 100 miles of trails and sidewalks and 14 lakes.
Four major highways link Rosemount to Minneapolis/St. Paul, and is home to the Pine Bend Refinery, which is the largest oil refinery in Minnesota and one of the largest in the United States.
Once a shipbuilding port for the U.S. Navy, Savage is now an industrial manufacturing job center in the southern metro.
Incorporated in 1857 as a booming river town, today Shakopee is the county seat of Scott County, and residents enjoy both the atmosphere of a small town and the resources of a metropolitan area.
